What to bring
- A valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, state ID or passport
- Your fingerprint card(s) if your agency provided them. No card? We have blank FD-258 cards on hand.
- Your agency's instructions, including how many cards they need and any required codes
Tips for clear prints
- Wash your hands, and skip lotion the day of your visit
- Drink water beforehand. Dry skin can make prints faint.
- Fill in your personal information in black ink, but leave the fingerprint boxes and official sections blank
- Don't fold or bend the cards

What's the difference between ink fingerprinting and Live Scan?
Ink fingerprinting rolls your prints onto paper cards, such as the FBI FD-258, that you mail to the agency. Live Scan captures prints digitally and sends them electronically. Your agency decides which one it accepts, so check your instructions first. Dash offers ink cards only.
How many cards do I need?
It depends on the agency. Many ask for two cards in case one is rejected. Check your instructions. We keep blank FD-258 cards on hand and can roll extra cards so you have a backup.
Why do fingerprint cards get rejected?
Usually because the prints are smudged or too light to read. We take care to roll clear prints, and the tips above help too.
Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are welcome during business hours. If you're coming with a group, or need prints for several people, call ahead at 559-400-2908.
